102 CCTV cameras installed at Kasarani ahead of CHAN

Murkomen, who is in charge of security apparatus around the country, said that he was satisfied with the brief he has been given regarding the upcoming tournament which begins on August 2 2025.
The Moi Sports Centre Kasarani, has 102 CCTV cameras to assist with security guarantees, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has said.
Speaking during a tour of the facility on Monday, Murkomen, who is in charge of security apparatus around the country, said that he was satisfied with the brief he has been given regarding the upcoming tournament which begins on August 2 2025.
He is confident that Kenya will host a superb tournament and has urged fans to show up for the matches in numbers.
"We are ready and I'm happy with what I see here. We are fully prepared for any security eventualities. The stadium has modern gates that can only be accessed using electronic cards, and we have installed approximately 102 CCTV cameras to monitor activities both inside and around the facility," said Murkomen.
"This demonstrates our high level of preparedness to ensure the safety of fans, players, and officials during the tournament," he added.
According to the former Sports Cabinet Secretary, the onus is now on the fans to take care of the facilities that have been newly revamped ahead of the tournament. He asked Kenyan fans to maintain their well-known hospitality as the country welcomes visitors for the event.
"I urge Kenyans to continue displaying their characteristic good behavior as we host international guests. Let us uphold our reputation for courtesy throughout the tournament," urged the CS.
The tournament begins August 2 and will held in Kenya Uganda and Tanzania. Kasarani will host the first match of the tournament between Kenya and DR Congo.
