Police have arrested another suspect linked to the killing of Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo Were, who was shot dead on April 30, 2025.

The suspect, Amos Barasa Kasili, as reported by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), was apprehended in Kibera Darajani following an intelligence-led operation that placed him at the scene of the attack.

Barasa was identified as the rider of the motorcycle used by the attackers to trail and later flee after carrying out the shooting.

The motorcycle, a Bajaj Boxer with registration number KMFZ 413W, was found in his possession at the time of arrest.

"CCTV footage near Parliament captured the same bike trailing the MP’s vehicle before the fatal incident," DCI said in a statement on Wednesday.

Investigations, as reported by DCI, have revealed that Barasa is a known criminal who poses as a Boda Boda rider while working with armed gangs.

He is said to have confessed to being hired by the main suspects and admitted to receiving Sh50,000 for his role in the operation.

Further profiling by the DCI showed that Barasa has a history of criminal activity, including a previous sentence at Industrial Area Prison.

It is there that he is believed to have formed links with other individuals involved in the killing.

Barasa is being processed for arraignment as investigations continue.
