Police in Kangema Sub-County in Murang’a have arrested four suspects linked to a string of kidnappings following a coordinated raid in Kiriaini.

The suspects — John Thuo Maina, Rose Wangari Kinyua, Peter Gathiru Kinuthia, and Nancy Wamaitha Njoki — were apprehended while plotting their next strike.

Their arrest comes after they allegedly kidnapped a woman and forced her to withdraw Sh585,000 from her bank account to secure her freedom.

Acting on intelligence, detectives pounced on the gang as they prepared for another attack.

A getaway car, Toyota Corolla KBJ 419S, believed to have been used in multiple crimes, was impounded at the scene.

The suspects are in custody awaiting arraignment, while investigations continue to track down their accomplices.

Meanwhile, police officers from Kiambu County Headquarters, led by County Police Commander Doris Mugambi, carried out a successful raid in Matangi, Juja Sub-County, on Friday, September 5, 2025, acting on a tip-off from the public.

Four suspected drug traffickers were arrested, and officers seized 2,085 rolls of cannabis, 8 kilograms of unprocessed cannabis, 30 litres of chang’aa, 20 litres of muratina, and Sh9,580 believed to be proceeds from the illegal trade.

The suspects remain in custody and are set to be arraigned on Monday, September 8, 2025.

The National Police Service thanked the public for their cooperation and encouraged continued reporting of criminal activities.
