The suspects, identified as 35-year-old Chigamba Salim Dalu and 27-year-old Hassan Ndegwa Nyota, are accused of staging a midnight robbery at a man's home in Majaoni, Kisauni.
Police in Kisauni, Mombasa, have arrested two suspected robbers believed to be behind a spate of violent attacks in the area.
The suspects, identified as 35-year-old Chigamba Salim Dalu and 27-year-old Hassan Ndegwa Nyota, are accused of staging a midnight robbery at a man's home in Majaoni, Kisauni, together with three accomplices who are still on the run.
According to police, the suspects shot their victim during the attack.
"In the dead of night, the gang stormed the homestead, ruthlessly shooting the man of the house in the ribs before vanishing into the darkness with a 75-inch Hisense TV, two mobile phones, and other valuables," said a police report.
The victim later succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at Coast General Hospital.
Detectives launched a manhunt immediately after the attack.
Acting on forensic intelligence, officers tracked down Chigamba in Kinango, where he was found in possession of one of the stolen phones.
The operation later shifted to Mombasa town, where his alleged accomplice Hassan was cornered and arrested.
The two suspects are currently in custody pending arraignment, as detectives continue pursuing leads to apprehend the remaining gang members.
