Two Kenyan politicians among four killed in Uganda road crash

Four individuals from West Pokot County, including two Kenyan politicians, died  in a tragic accident in northeastern Uganda on the evening of Saturday, March 22, 2025.

The victims have been identified as Lopuko Elijah (52), Lotudo Philemon (54), Kariwoi Jackson (46), and the driver, Plimo Ben (40).

According to reports the group was traveling from Moroto, Uganda, to Kapenguria, Kenya, when their vehicle was involved in the fatal crash around 8:00 PM.

Authorities confirmed that one person survived the accident, though details about their condition remain undisclosed.

"Yesterday 22 March 2025, there was a road traffic accident that took place along Moroto-Loroo road within Karamonjong area in Uganda at about 2000hrs involving Kenyans who were on their way back to Kapenguria, West Pokot from Moroto," the report read in part.

The remains of the deceased have been transferred to Cherangani Home Nursing Funeral Home.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
