Speaking during a mini-rally in Kakamega, Natembeya called for unity in the region, urging residents to stand up for their rights.

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya received an enthusiastic welcome across several towns in Western Kenya on Monday, May 26, 2025.

While addressing roadside crowds on his way to Kitale, Natembeya declared that he is a "commando with soldiers" and will not be cowed by intimidation.

During his stop in Kakamega Town, he was joined by Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah.

The two leaders shared a vehicle as they waved to cheering residents while moving through the streets.

Unlike the events of May 24, when DCP deputy party leader Cleophas Malala was teargassed while attempting to hold a homecoming rally in Kakamega, Monday's tour went on peacefully without incident.

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya made several roadside stops across Western Kenya on his way back to Kitale, days after his arrest and court appearance.

Speaking during a mini-rally in Kakamega, Natembeya called for unity in the region, urging residents to stand up for their rights.

"It’s unacceptable that a community with so many educated individuals continues to be sidelined in public service. While others are brought to recruitment centers in lorries, we’re hauled in wheelbarrows," he said.

He went on to accuse unnamed forces of trying to silence the region, citing the collapse of sugar factories like Mumias and Nzoia.

"They’ve ruined our industries and now want to mute us but they won’t succeed. The Constitution is on my side. I’m a general and a commando, and I have my soldiers," Natembeya declared.

His tour began earlier in the day when he arrived at Kisumu International Airport. From there, he embarked on a series of engagements, making public addresses in Vihiga, Kakamega, Bungoma, and finally Kitale.

Through his Tawe Movement, Natembeya addressed crowds in Luanda, Chavakali, and Kakamega, rallying the community around his call for transformation. He is also scheduled to make stops in Webuye, Bungoma, Chwele, Kimilili, Kamukuywa, and Kiminini before arriving in Kitale later in the day.

This will be Natembeya’s first public appearance in Kitale since his legal woes began.

He was arraigned on May 20, 2025, where he denied corruption charges leveled against him. The court granted him a cash bail of Sh500,000 and ordered him to stay away from his office for 60 days.

A key figure in the DAP-K party led by former Cabinet Minister Eugene Wamalwa, Natembeya, became the second senior party leader to face arrest within a week.

While speaking in Luanda, Natembeya rallied support for the Tawe Movement, saying it aims to tackle critical issues like poverty, unemployment, and food insecurity in the region.

He is expected to be joined by several opposition leaders in Kitale as he addresses his constituents and makes a political statement with his homecoming rally.
