A mix of rain, chilly nights, and sunny breaks is expected across Kenya this week, with the Meteorological Department warning that several regions — from the Coast to the Highlands — will experience unstable weather conditions.

Showers will hit many counties between Tuesday and Saturday, while temperatures are set to vary widely, with some places dropping to 1°C and others rising to 36°C.

According to the Kenya Meteorological Department, rainfall is expected in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Central Rift Valley, and the Coast.

Residents in Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi counties will wake up to cloudy mornings that break into sunny spells, except on Thursday when showers will fall in a few areas.

Showers will also hit in the afternoons and nights throughout the week, with Friday night expected to be partly cloudy.

The highest temperatures will be 28 degrees Celsius, with the lowest expected at 1 degree Celsius.

In Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta counties, along with the inland parts of Tana River, mornings and afternoons will mostly be sunny, apart from isolated showers on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.

Nights will be partly cloudy, with temperatures ranging from 12 to 31 degrees Celsius.

At the Coast, counties like Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale, and Tana River are forecast to receive showers throughout the day and night on most days, except Wednesday night when skies will be partly cloudy.

These regions will experience highs of 32 degrees Celsius and lows of 24 degrees.

The Lake Victoria Basin and parts of the Rift Valley, including Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, and counties like Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Bomet, and Nandi, will have afternoon and night showers through the week, while mornings on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday are expected to be sunny.

Temperatures will range between 10 and 29 degrees Celsius.

In the north, Turkana and Samburu counties will be hot and dry during the day and partly cloudy at night. Maximum temperatures are expected to hit 36 degrees Celsius, with lows at 11 degrees.

The weatherman has also cautioned that strong winds exceeding 25 knots are likely to affect the Coast, Southern-Eastern Lowlands, and the northern parts of the country.
