Eldoret man receives parcel containing severed fingers and live bullets

Police in Eldoret have launched a probe into a chilling incident in which a man received a parcel containing three severed human fingers and six live bullets.

According to investigators, the victim reported that on Friday, August 8, 2025, he received a call from an unidentified man claiming to have a package for him. After providing his location, the man was informed that a rider would deliver it.

The victim, who was at a local bar at the time, said the rider contacted him upon arrival. When he opened the envelope, he was horrified to find three human fingers a forefinger, ring finger, and little finger, all from a left hand, alongside live ammunition.

Police who responded to the scene confirmed the grisly contents, identifying the ammunition as four 7.62mm rounds and two 9mm rounds. There was no note or accompanying message in the envelope.

The severed fingers were transferred to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary for forensic analysis, while the bullets were sent for ballistic examination.

Detectives have intensified efforts to trace the sender, who remains at large. The delivery rider, whose phone records are being scrutinized, told police he was contacted by a man who has since switched off his phone.

Authorities are working to establish the motive behind the delivery, as well as the identity of the victim whose fingers were found. Early assessments suggest the fingers may have been severed as part of a killing or brutal assault.

Police say the case is being treated with utmost urgency due to its disturbing nature, as they explore possible links to organized crime, personal disputes, or intimidation tactics.

This incident has left residents of Eldoret in shock, with many calling for swift investigations to bring the perpetrator to justice.
