KMPDC orders ambulance, emergency care services registration by September 15

KMPDC boss David Kariuki, added that the registration will standardize emergency care services, enhance the quality of pre-hospital care, and support the operationalization of the emergency services.
The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) has ordered all providers of ambulance services and emergency care personnel providing emergency medical services in the country to register with the council by September 15, 2025.
In a notice issued September 8, 2025, by its Chief Executive Officer, David Kariuki, KMPDC states that all ambulances, regardless of ownership, providing emergency medical services and all emergency care personnel/technicians, including paramedics, emergency medical technicians (EMTs), ambulance operators, and other healthcare workers delivering pre-hospital care, must register with the council.
The council added that the registration will standardize emergency care services, enhance the quality of pre-hospital care, and support the operationalization of the emergency services component under the Social Health Authority's Emergency, Critical Care, and Chronic Illness Fund.
To register, the service providers are required to submit their applications to KMPDC through the email address, [email protected], or through in-person visits to KMPDC offices.
The providers are warned of sanctions for failure to comply with KMPDC requirements.
“Failure to register with KMPDC will result in sanctions, including prohibition from operating ambulances or providing emergency medical services,” reads the notice in part.
The move is in line with the KMPDC's commitment to ensuring quality and safe emergency medical services for all Kenyans.
