To ease access to academic documents and streamline services for its graduates, the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has introduced a new initiative allowing graduates to collect their transcripts from any of the 88 campuses across the country.

This move aims to eliminate the need for graduates to travel to the Nairobi headquarters to collect their Final Qualifying Examination (FQE) transcripts.

The announcement was made last month, with KMTC confirming on Wednesday (today) that by March 4, 10,000 transcripts for students who completed their FQEs in January 2024 had already been distributed to various campuses.

This change comes as a response to the increasing demand from employers who wish to hire KMTC graduates immediately after they finish their exams.

"We have seen employers express interest in hiring our students immediately after they complete their FQEs. That is why we resolved to release transcripts promptly, to enable our students to compete for jobs in real time," Dr. Kelly Oluoch, CEO of KMTC, explained.

"We would not want any of our graduates to miss out on an opportunity."

This change applies to graduates from 2024 onward.

They are encouraged to visit their local campuses to pick up their transcripts, which have already been delivered.

However, for those who graduated in 2023 or earlier, transcripts will continue to be available exclusively at the Nairobi headquarters.

"For students who graduated in 2023 or earlier, transcripts will continue to be issued from the Examinations Office at our Nairobi headquarters," Oluoch clarified.

The decentralization of transcript access is also expected to help reduce financial strain, particularly for graduates seeking international employment.

Dr. Oluoch further shared that the demand for KMTC graduates abroad had grown significantly, with 3,249 employment verification requests processed in 2024, marking a 50% increase compared to 2023.
