Gatundu Assistant Chief found dead after alleged sexual assault on two boys

The assistant chief’s wife stumbled upon the grim scene at their matrimonial home.
A local administrator from Kamunyu Sub-Location in Gatundu South, Kiambu County, who had gone into hiding after being accused of drugging and sexually assaulting two underage boys on April 20, 2025, has been found dead.
Gatundu Police Commander Jane Makenga confirmed the discovery, stating that the assistant chief’s wife stumbled upon the grim scene at their matrimonial home.
According to reports, the woman had returned from a clinic visit only to find the house locked from the inside.
She alerted her brother-in-law, and together they forced entry by breaking the door lock.
Inside, they found the assistant chief’s body hanging from the roof.
Police officers were called to the scene, and the body was taken to the Kenyatta University Funeral Home.
"The matter is now considered closed. It’s an unfortunate end, especially for the victims who will not get their day in court," said the police commander, urging Kenyans to promptly report such crimes to the authorities.
Authorities had launched a manhunt for an assistant chief following disturbing allegations by two boys who claimed he drugged and assaulted them—an incident that has deeply unsettled the local community.
The administrator is accused of committing the offences on April 20, 2025.
One of the boys reported that he and two friends had gone to the assistant chief’s residence to deliver milk, where they were invited into a separate structure and offered muratina, a traditional alcoholic drink.
According to the boy, his friends stepped out briefly to check on a neighbour, leaving him behind.
He said he lost consciousness soon after and later woke up at home, confused, in physical pain, and covered in mud.
A medical report confirmed he had been sexually assaulted.
The case was filed at Gatundu Police Station under OB No. 04/24/04/25.
Later that evening, the assistant chief allegedly followed the other two boys to a nearby homestead.
One of them told police the administrator made inappropriate remarks and tried to assault him.
The boy managed to flee and has since recorded a statement.
