Gore highlighted Kenya's leadership role in addressing the climate crisis.

Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore is scheduled to visit Kenya from June 12 to 14, 2025, as part of the ongoing global efforts to tackle the impacts of climate change.

In a statement, Gore highlighted Kenya's leadership role in addressing the climate crisis, noting the severe effects climate change has on food security, energy access, and displacement within the country.

Despite these challenges, Gore praised Kenya's achievements in clean energy, showcasing how local and national climate action can be successfully implemented.

"The world cannot afford any further delay in addressing climate change," Gore stated.

"The Climate Reality training empowers individuals to drive meaningful change. Our aim is to equip participants in Nairobi with the latest scientific data on the causes and solutions to the crisis and provide them with the necessary tools to strengthen their advocacy and communication skills to urge global leaders to act swiftly."

Gore’s organization, The Climate Reality Project, continues to push for urgent climate action, working to create a global movement that makes climate solutions a priority at all levels of society.

"Through a network of over 3.8 million members and a global community of trained Climate Reality Leaders, we’re working to spread awareness about the climate crisis and build support for clean energy initiatives," he added.

The event in Nairobi will serve as the 59th training session of the Climate Reality Leadership Corps, where Gore will lead an in-person training.

This session is part of the REALITY® Tour, which seeks to build political will, public support, and global ambition for bold climate action ahead of COP30 in Brazil.

The tour began in March with a training in Paris, accompanied by satellite events in nine Climate Reality branches worldwide, including Cape Town, South Africa.

The tour is set to continue later in 2025 with upcoming stops in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

In addition to live events taking place throughout the year, Climate Reality is offering global audiences exclusive access to its training resources through a newly launched digital platform.

This includes the renowned climate presentation delivered by Vice President Al Gore.

The Nairobi session will span two and a half days, focusing on Kenya’s advancements in clean energy and the broader global response to the climate emergency.

The training will amplify voices from East Africa and spotlight the region’s contributions to climate action.

Attendees will delve into Kenya’s pioneering efforts in scaling up renewable energy, reinforcing climate resilience, and driving green industrial development.

A key element of the program will be addressing gaps in climate financing and identifying strategies to unlock funding through stronger global commitments and accountability mechanisms.

Vice President Gore will speak directly to participants about the real-world impacts of climate change and the solutions at hand.

The event also offers a platform to gain advocacy skills, form networks, and connect with a vibrant community of climate leaders.

Esteemed voices in the field will also be featured, including Wanjira Mathai of the World Resources Institute, Nyaguthii Chege of The Green Belt Movement, and Raya Ahmed Famau from the Lamu Women’s Alliance.

Through this initiative, The Climate Reality Project aims to inject renewed energy into the global climate movement, increase public pressure for bold action, and demand accountability from world leaders.

The urgency of this training stems from the escalating climate-related challenges facing Kenya, including prolonged droughts and destructive floods that continue to endanger communities and livelihoods across the country.
