The high-level forum is slated to run from June 8 to 13 and brings together African and Chinese officials to review and advance joint initiatives agreed upon during past FOCAC summits.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has embarked on an official visit to Changsha, China, to participate in the Ministerial Meeting of Coordinators on the implementation of follow-up actions from the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

The high-level forum is slated to run from June 8 to 13 and brings together African and Chinese officials to review and advance joint initiatives agreed upon during past FOCAC summits.

Mudavadi's trip follows the recent elevation of Kenya-China relations to a strategic partnership, a milestone marked during President William Ruto’s recent state visit to Beijing.

The Prime CS is expected to use the opportunity to reinforce this growing alliance, with a focus on expanding economic cooperation and attracting Chinese support for Kenya’s development priorities.

During his stay, Mudavadi will also attend the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo as well as the China (Chongqing)-Africa Investment Forum.

High on his agenda are discussions around key infrastructure projects such as the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) extension and the planned dualling of the Nairobi-Malaba highway initiatives viewed as critical to boosting regional trade and connectivity.
