Otiende accuses Gachagua of fueling divisive politics and insists that the former DP failed to learn from his 2024 Senate impeachment.

Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo has threatened to table a motion seeking to bar former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua from running for any public office in Kenya.

Otiende accuses Gachagua of fueling divisive politics and insists that the former DP failed to learn from his 2024 Senate impeachment.

"Every time you speak, it’s clear you haven’t learned your lesson. We want to remind you that you were impeached under Article 75 of the Constitution. Our action wasn’t enough, we only impeached you," Otiende stated.

The Rarieda MP stated that Parliament could use a constitutional provision to bar Gachagua from running for any elective position.

"If you keep using divisive language, we will push a special motion under Article 75(3), which prohibits anyone removed from office under Article 75 from contesting any public office for life. Don’t think there won’t be consequences," the MP warned during a fundraising event in Rongo on Sunday.

"There will be, if you persist with such rhetoric."

The former Deputy President, who has been on a campaign to undermine his former boss William Ruto’s popularity, has been branded tribal and divisive.

Leaders within Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza coalition, as well as supporters of the broad-based government, accuse Gachagua of fueling ethnic tensions.
