Speaking during the event, Ruto dismissed the opposition’s push to unseat him, saying it is driven more by slogans than substance.

President William Ruto launched a scathing attack on the opposition during a Sunday service at Friends’ Comprehensive School in Kivaywa, accusing them of lacking a concrete vision for the country’s development.

Speaking during the event, Ruto dismissed the opposition’s push to unseat him, saying it is driven more by slogans than substance.

"These individuals have no clear roadmap. We cannot entrust the country's leadership to people whose only agenda is chanting ‘Ruto must go.’ How does that improve your life? They have no answers on job creation for the youth, no strategy for advancing agriculture, and no idea how to improve education. They simply have no plan," he said.

Ruto also took issue with what he described as the opposition’s tendency to stir division along tribal lines, accusing them of spreading resentment instead of offering solutions.

Ruto’s comments come amid growing political friction in the country.

Since the 2022 elections, the opposition has maintained relentless pressure on his administration, mobilizing supporters with renewed calls for change.

Notably, the opposition front includes former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who was ousted from office in October 2024.

He is joined by prominent figures such as Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and DAP-K’s Eugene Wamalwa, all of whom have been vocal critics of Ruto’s leadership.

President Ruto’s visit to Lugari extended beyond politics, reflecting a broader push to strengthen ties with grassroots communities in Western Kenya.

Joined by local leaders including Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera, Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa, and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, the Head of State combined spiritual reflections with promises of development.

As part of his tour, Ruto handed over a school bus to Kivaywa Boys Secondary School, signaling support for education.

He also unveiled a major rural electrification initiative worth Sh3 billion, aimed at connecting 85,000 households in the region a move he said aligns with his government’s commitment to inclusive development.
