Kalonzo unveils Wiper Patriotic Front in major youth-focused rebrand

This rebrand marks the final phase of a transformation process that began earlier in the year, aimed at giving the party a fresh identity that aligns with the aspirations of the younger generation.
Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has officially announced the rebranding of his political party from the Wiper Democratic Movement to the Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF).
The declaration was made on Friday, August 1, 2025, through social media platform X, where Kalonzo posted a photo holding the party’s new certificate of registration. “It’s official! We are now the Wiper Patriotic Front! #KomboaKenya,” he captioned the image.
This rebrand marks the final phase of a transformation process that began earlier in the year, aimed at giving the party a fresh identity that aligns with the aspirations of the younger generation.
Kalonzo revealed that the decision was driven by the need to modernize the party’s image and broaden its national appeal. During a rally in Emali, Makueni County, on June 28, he told supporters that WPF would embrace patriotic values and respond to Kenya’s evolving political landscape.
“The party now has a new face. Wiper is going national,” he said. “The new name will be Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) so that our Gen Z are fully included.”
Kalonzo also praised the pivotal role played by Kenyan youth especially Gen Zs during the 2024 anti-Finance Bill demonstrations, saying their courage and patriotism inspired the party’s new direction.
He called on young people across the country to register with WPF, assuring them that their voices and priorities would take center stage in the party’s agenda moving forward.
With the issuance of the certificate, the era of the Wiper Democratic Movement, which Kalonzo has led since 2006, comes to a formal close. The rebrand is widely seen as a strategic move to build momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections and attract a broader, youthful voter base.
At the same time, the country’s political landscape is undergoing further changes, with the Jubilee Party also restructuring internally. Former President Uhuru Kenyatta retained his role as party leader, while several officials were replaced in a bid to revitalize the once-dominant outfit.
Kalonzo’s rebrand places WPF firmly in the spotlight as a renewed political force, focused on unity, inclusion, and youth-led transformation.
