President William Ruto has taken a firm stance against his critics, defending his administration’s development agenda while appealing for national unity.

Addressing a crowd at the 10th Annual Dairy Farmers' Field Day in Meru on Saturday, Ruto brushed off threats from political opponents, stating that his long-standing experience in politics shields him from intimidation.

“Shall we continue working? Educating our children? Organizing our agriculture? Ensuring farmers earn from their produce so we can move forward?” he asked the audience, outlining the government’s core priorities.

The President, who has recently come under fire from opposition figures, made it clear he won’t be swayed by what he termed as empty threats.

“I’ve been in politics for a long time. Intimidation doesn’t shake me. If anyone thinks they can scare me let them find someone else,” he said.

He also dismissed the “Ruto Must Go” slogan chanted by opposition supporters as baseless rhetoric, accusing his critics of lacking any meaningful plans for the country.

“It’s just noise and propaganda talk of Kasongo, Ruto must go. If you ask them their plan for farmers, they say ‘Kasongo.’ Their solution for improving education? ‘Ruto must go.’ They have no agenda,” he remarked.

In a subtle swipe at his impeached former deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, Ruto praised his current deputy, Prof. Kithure Kindiki, lauding his work ethic and commitment to the job.

“This deputy of mine, Prof. Kindiki, is someone who understands what needs to be done and helps push the government’s agenda forward. He’s not just making noise,” Ruto noted.

Despite political turbulence, the Head of State underscored the value of national cohesion, pointing to efforts to bring together leaders from across the political divide.

“I am doing my best to unite Kenya. Take Oparanya, for example. We weren’t on the same side politically during the last election. But for the sake of national unity and progress, we are now working together. Unity is strength; division is weakness,” he said.

Ruto was referring to former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, who now serves as the Cabinet Secretary for Co-operatives and MSMEs after crossing over from the opposition.

“As the leader of this nation, I will continue to bring Kenyans together so we can move forward in one direction,” Ruto concluded.
