Ruto’s 2027 re-election bid on track, says Senator Roba

Senator Roba said Ruto’s strategic alliances and development record have created a formidable electoral foundation, particularly in historically marginalized areas.
President William Ruto remains well-positioned for re-election in the 2027 general election, according to Mandera Senator and United Democratic Movement (UDM) party leader Ali Roba.
Senator Roba said Ruto’s strategic alliances and development record have created a formidable electoral foundation, particularly in historically marginalized areas.
Roba pointed to the 14 Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL) counties as a central component of Ruto’s support base, predicting a 30% rise in voter registration in these regions in a statement on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday.
He projected that the ASAL voter base could grow from 3.2 million to 4.16 million, potentially delivering 2.7 million votes for the president with a 65% turnout and overwhelming regional support.
Beyond the ASAL counties, Roba projected strong backing for Ruto in several other key regions.
Based on a conservative national voter turnout estimate of 65%, he estimated that the president could secure 2.94 million votes in the Rift Valley (excluding ASAL counties), 1.43 million from the Coast Region, and 3.54 million in Nyanza.
He further projected 1.69 million votes in Western Kenya, assuming 60% support, along with 1.11 million votes from Mount Kenya and Nairobi at 25% support, and 280,000 votes from Lower Eastern with the same percentage of support.
These totals, Roba argued, form a solid electoral coalition capable of withstanding even a united opposition front.
The senator praised the focus of the head of state on inclusivity and infrastructure development, especially in areas previously overlooked by past administrations.
He said these efforts had not only won the trust of the ASAL communities but also reshaped the political dynamics in other traditionally competitive regions.
Roba dismissed ongoing “one-term president” narratives from opposition quarters as detached from political reality.
He asserted that Ruto’s popularity, organizational strength, and data-driven mobilization strategy place him far ahead of his challengers.
“The opposition noise cannot drown out the facts,” Roba said. “President Ruto is on course for a decisive 2027 victory.”
