Moses Kuria resigns as Ruto’s senior economic adviser

In a statement posted Tuesday evening on X, Kuria said he had personally informed President Ruto of his decision, which the head of state accepted.
Moses Kuria has stepped down as a senior economic adviser in the Office of the President, ending his nearly three-year tenure in President William Ruto’s administration.
In a statement posted Tuesday evening on X, Kuria said he had personally informed President Ruto of his decision, which the head of state accepted.
“This evening I have met my boss and my friend President William Ruto. The President has graciously accepted my decision to resign from government,” Kuria stated.
Kuria thanked Ruto for entrusting him with various responsibilities within the Kenya Kwanza administration, describing the experience as an honour.
“I thank President Ruto for having given me an opportunity to serve as Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry for 11 months, Public Service, Delivery and Performance Management for nine months and Senior Economic Adviser for the last 10 months,” he said.
He was appointed Senior Adviser in the Council of Economic Advisers on August 23, 2024, shortly after his exit from the Public Service docket. He had previously served in the Trade and Industry Ministry.
In his statement, Kuria praised the government’s efforts under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which he described as a shared vision between him and Ruto from the campaign days.
“As I move on to pursue personal interests, I am proud of the work the President and I did to implement the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda,” he noted.
He concluded his statement with a patriotic message: “Long live Kenya.”
