The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has rolled out guidelines and nomination charges for aspirants ahead of its county delegate elections, scheduled for Monday, August 25, 2025.

In a statement on Sunday, August 17, the party confirmed that the elections will be overseen by the National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC) and will take place across most counties, except for Nairobi, Migori, Homa Bay, and Kisumu. The designated polling centers for the exercise will be announced locally.

ODM noted that delegates whose names have been listed on the party’s official website are free to submit their applications for the available slots. Aspirants will be required to send their nomination fees through the ODM Paybill number 985900, using the specific post they are seeking as the account name.

The party outlined the charges as follows, sh1,000 for any non-executive position at county level, sh2,500 for women, youth, disability, and special interest representatives, sh5,000 for executive posts other than chairperson, and sh10,000 for those seeking the chairperson seat.

“These elections are part of ODM’s step-by-step internal polls, which began last year at the grassroots. After conducting ward elections in April this year, followed by constituency-level contests, we are now moving to counties,” the party explained.

ODM leader Raila Odinga has described the ongoing internal elections as key in promoting fairness and openness within the movement. He stressed that the exercise will not only strengthen ODM’s internal structures but also prepare the party for the 2027 General Election.

Political observers note that the county delegates’ polls will be crucial in shaping leadership at the grassroots. Winners will play a significant role in decision-making at higher party levels, including the National Delegates Congress, which influences the party’s national direction.

By taking this gradual approach, ODM hopes to ensure inclusivity and accountability within its ranks, while also energizing its support base ahead of the next political cycle.
