Cabinet Secretaries have made a fresh wave of appointments across various state agencies and boards,  through a gazette notice dated September 12, 2025,  signaling renewed efforts to strengthen service delivery across critical sectors.

At the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi appointed Simon Antony Njuguna to the Board of the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA).

"IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by section 12 (1) (g) of the Energy Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation

and General Provisions Act, I, the Cabinet Secretary for Energy and Petroleum, appoints Simon Antony Njuguna to be a Member of the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 12th September, 2025," reads part of the gazette notice.

The CS revoked the appointment of Anthony Gachau.

In the health sector, Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale appointed Salome Owuonda as a member of the Kenya Institute of Primate Research Board, also for a three-year term.

The Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry, under Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui, made one of the most extensive announcements, appointing more than 70 individuals as inspectors under the Standards Act (Cap. 496).

The move is aimed at strengthening quality assurance and standards enforcement nationwide.

On matters of security, Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, in consultation with the National Security Council, extended the declaration of parts of Marsabit County as “security disturbed and dangerous” for 30 more days, effective September 13, 2025.

Other ministries also published notices relating to regulatory frameworks, including the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, which issued public consultations on new social protection regulations, and the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, which tabled draft rules on the establishment of a national carbon registry.

These appointments and directives, anchored in various Acts of Parliament and constitutional provisions, are expected to enhance oversight, operational efficiency, and governance in the targeted sectors over the next three years.
