Safaricom will close a number of its retail shops across Kenya for a single day to hold an internal staff event, affecting customer access in several areas.

The temporary closures are scheduled for Thursday, October 9, and will cover key towns and cities, including Nairobi, Mombasa, Malindi, Diani, Machakos, Kitui, Thika, Nyeri, Nanyuki, Embu, Maua, Meru, and Garissa.

Ahead of the event, some Safaricom outlets in the Mount Kenya, Coast, Eastern, and North Eastern regions will start closing earlier on Wednesday, October 8, from 11:30 a.m. to allow staff time to prepare.

The company has advised customers to plan ahead and use alternative service channels during the closures.

Options include the Zuri Chatbot on Safaricom’s digital platforms, the Safaricom Contact Center, and authorized dealer outlets located near the affected shops.

Safaricom has not provided details about the nature of the staff event, but emphasized that the temporary closures are part of internal arrangements and that services will resume as normal after the event.
