Kuria urged Gachagua to stop what he termed as public attacks against other leaders from the region, especially women leaders.

Former senior economic advisor to President William Ruto, Moses Kuria, has called on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to respect other leaders from the Mt Kenya region.

Kuria urged Gachagua to stop what he termed as public attacks against other leaders from the region, especially women leaders.

He insisted that such act to do not equal his standing as the undisputed leader of the region.

“I have only one humble request. Kindly refrain from insulting our leaders in general, our women leaders in particular, and all Mt Kenya women by extension. Doesn’t really sound commensurate with your undisputed kingpin status,” he said.

Kuria, however, praised the former Deputy President’s growing influence in the Mt Kenya region, urging him to show greater respect for fellow leaders.

He reiterated that Gachagua’s dominance is shaping political discourse in the region.

“It is an undeniable fact that the majority of our Mt Kenya people listen to you. You are ahead of the rest of us. You are edging closer to be our undisputed Kingpin in the Mountain,” Kuria said.

The CS compared Gachagua’s rising stature to alliances formed in other regions, noting that just as Kanu chairman Gideon Moi and President William Ruto are now working together, he might also consider teaming up with Gachagua very soon.

Kuria’s remarks were in response to a video of Gachagua in one of his recent rallies, faulting a section of Mt Kenya leaders for working with President William Ruto.

In the clip, also shared by the former Public Service CS, Gachagua is heard mentioning the names of Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and her Embu counterpart Cecily Mbarire.

He questions if they see no problem with the current administration.

Kuria’s remarks come amid growing political tensions in the Mt Kenya region, where Gachagua has positioned himself as a key political voice ahead of the 2027 General Election.
