Moses Ndale named Kenya Rugby Union interim chair, to serve for 14 days

He will serve for a period of 14 days pending the election of a new Chairperson to replace the departed Sasha Mutai.
The Kenya Rugby Union has appointed Vice Chairperson Moses Ndale as its interim chairperson.
He will serve for 14 days pending the election of a new Chairperson to replace the departed Sasha Mutai.
Mutai resigned in a huff last week, accusing his fellow board members of sabotaging him and pushing for his exit over what he termed as baseless accusations.
The Union announced Ndale as the man at the helm for now, as they plan for the future.
"Following this development (Mutai's resignation), the KRU Board has appointed Mr. Moses Ndale as the Acting Chairman of the Union for 14 days, during which the Board will convene and elect a new Chairman from among its current members, as per the Union’s governance constitution."
Mutai officially stepped down from the chairmanship on Friday, May 30, during a tense Special General Meeting (SGM) held at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi.
His resignation came moments before a no-confidence motion, sponsored by KRU Secretary General Ray Olendo, was scheduled to be tabled.
Mutai has been battling wrangles for a while now at the Union, which is not new to infighting.
The chair had been placed on the hot seat on allegations of misappropriation of Sh13.2 million through illegal payments to vendors that did not provide services.
"I have resigned as the head of KRU, and I leave with my head held high, Mutai told reporters in the aftermath of the AGM. " There was an SGM and some members were looking to eject me as head of the chairman of the union," he said on Friday.
"They said that I'm involved in dictatorship and other things. As such, I read the mood in the room and have offered to tender my resignation."
Mutai has promised to sue Olendo in court, accusing him of soiling his reputation with the vote of no confidence, which he says was instigated by personal vendettas.
