Kenya Rugby Union to name new Chairperson Friday following Mutai resignation

Moses Olukohe Ndale and Harriet Achieng Okach will compete for the position of KRU Chairperson.
The Kenya Rugby Union KRU has announced that it will name it's new head on Friday following Sasha Mutai's resignation last week.
Moses Olukohe Ndale and Harriet Achieng Okach will compete for the position of KRU Chairperson.
According to a communique seen by Scrummage Africa, the board will meet on Friday, 5th June 2025 to deliberate and appoint one of the two candidates as the next Chairperson of the Union.
The two names on the list are Ndale, who is the current KRU vice chairperson and Okach, who has been a director.
“The Board of Kenya Rugby Union, in its meeting held on 3rd June 2025, received the following nominees for consideration for appointment as the Chairman and/or Chairperson of Kenya Rugby Union: Harriet Achieng Okach and Moses Olukohe Ndale. The board has scheduled a meeting on 5th June 2025 to deliberate on the nominees and appoint either of them,” read the letter by KRU Honorary Secretary Raymond Olendo.
The development follows the earlier appointment of Moses Ndale as the acting Chairman in late May 2025, after the resignation of Alexander “Sasha” Mutai.
Ndale has served as KRU Vice Chairman since his election in September 2022, stepping into the role in an acting capacity for a 14-day period, which ends.
Mutai was elected unopposed as KRU Chairman in 2023 but had come under mounting pressure in recent months due to governance issues as accuaed by fellow board meetings, culminating in a motion for his ouster presented at the Special General Meeting SGM.
