Volleyball: Search for new Malkia Strikers coach to end this week

The search for a new coach for the Kenya Women's Volleyball team is set to conclude this week after completion of interviews.
According to Kenya Volleyball Federation Secretary General Ismael Chege, the likelihood is that a new person will be named to the role this weekend during the Federation's Annual General Meeting AGM.
Chege says that interviews were held last week on Friday, where four potential candidates appeared before the KVF selection panel and committee.
According to Chege, the report adopted by the committee will be considered and a name announced.
"It is true that we will be having a National Executive Council meeting over the weekend, and the appointment of Malkia Strikers’ head coach is one of our agendas," he was quoted by Citizen Digital.
"We are going to review the selection panel’s recommendations and constitute a new Malkia technical bench."
The new head coach will be tasked to lead the Malkia Strikers in the 2025 FIVB Women’s World Championships scheduled for August 22 to September 7, 2025, in Thailand.
Those who attended the interviews are KCB coach Japheth Munala, who has also been the coach over the last one year, and Kenya Pipeline head coach Geoffrey Omondi,
Others are Nairobi Water head coach John Mwaniki and Catherine Mbavi, who will be seeking to become the first ever female coach of the national team.
