Preparations complete ahead of AFC Leopards elections on Sunday

AFC Leopards are all set for their elections this weekend, as the club gears towards new leadership following the expiry of the current office holder's term.
Leopards, who last won the Kenya Premier League back in 1998, will be heading to the polls on Sunday, 29 June at the Stadion Hotel Ballroom to elect a new club executive following the expiry of the current office's two year term.
The highly anticipated election, which will be preceded by a Special General Meeting (SGM) on the same day where members will deliberate on matters affecting the club, will be conducted by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Incumbent chair Dan Shikanda and his team will begrudgingly leave office after their term, with several names going hard for a number of positions in Leopards' leadership caucus.
Those seeking to vie for the position of Chairperson will now be required to pay a non-refundable nomination fee of Ksh150,000, while candidates for the positions of Secretary General and Treasurer will now part with Ksh125,000.
So far, the race for Chairman has attracted two candidates. Former Harambee Stars striker Boniface Ambani is set to face off with Enos Mutoka for the top seat. Both Gents already shared their manifesto and will be hoping to be the ones to lead the club into the future.
The Secretary General's post will see Robert Khamala Situma, Irene Sitawa Wekesa and Isaac Mulanda Mulindi face each other.
Leopards are looking to fresh minds to lift them off their never ending slumber in Kenyan football, having last won the Kenya Premier League title back in 1998. The record means that the club has stretched to 27 years without a league title with their last successful season the one where they finished above Mumias Sugar FC.
Former Leopards coach Ambani’s slogan is ‘guard the badge, believe in the vision’ while Mutoka, who was a former Marketing Director at the club says, ‘redefining the future of AFC Leopards’.
Ingwe finished sixth in the just concluded Kenyan Premier League (FKF-PL) with 51 points, 14 points behind champions Kenya Police.
Ambani and Mutoka expect to succeed the outgoing Chairman Dan Shikanda who has served two consecutive terms coming to six years overall.
