Police recently represented Kenya in the regional CECAFA Kagame Cup competition in Dar Es Salaam Tanzania. They bowed out in the group stages but their head coach Ndayiragije says that he is happy with what he saw during the tournament despite their results.

Kenya Police FC head coach Etienne Ndayiragije has said that his squad is in good health, with no injuries reported ahead of their CAF Champions League first round qualifier against Somalia's Mogadishu City FC.

Police will take on their Somali counterparts in the two-legged first round qualifier, hoping to earn a chance to proceed to the second leg and face either Jamus FC of South Sudan or Sudanese outfit Al Hilal in the second round.

The first leg will be played at the Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday, 20 September 2025, with the return at the same venue eight days later.

Police recently represented Kenya in the regional CECAFA Kagame Cup competition in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

They bowed out in the group stages but their head coach, Ndayiragije, says that he is happy with what he saw during the tournament, despite their results.

"The competition was good for our development as a team. As a team that was in pre-season, I'm very happy with what I saw at the Kagame Cup and I got what I felt I needed to see ahead of the season and upcoming matches," Police head coach Etienne Ndayiragije told Police Media in an interview.

" The squad is now good to my liking. We began with moving out some players and bringing in new players at the same time and we have travelled to Tanzania and we have gelled. I'm grateful for the time we have had together and I believe that we are better prepared for the upcoming season.

He says that he and his side are well-versed with what to expect from their opponents despite having never met before in competitive competition.

"During CECAFA, we got the opportunity to see Mogadishu City FC. We respect them and I can say that we watched them closely. We have prepared for this challenge and we are hopeful that we will also learn from our experience in the CAF Confederations Cup last year and make it count this year," he added.

At CECAFA, Police saw off the challenge of Djibouti outfit Garde Cotes 4-0 in their first match, before going down 2-1 to eventual winners Singida Black Stars in their second match. They then beat Ethiopian Coffee 2-0 in their final group stage clash but failed to qualify for the knockout stages due to an inferior goal average.
