The hallowed grounds of Kenyan Sevens rugby rises high once again as the annual Safari Sevens competition takes centre stage this weekend, Friday 10 to Sunday 12 October 2025.
Newly revamped and renovated, the Nyayo National Stadium will play host to the competition this year, as the Kenya Rugby Union aims to revive a tournament that for years has been on a downward spiral for various reasons. Once full of national teams and pro players, the Safari Sevens now accepts local club sides on the roster, but the future is there for the taking nonetheless.
There will be healthy competition in both Men's and Women's categories, with many sides confirming their participation. Kenya's Shujaa won the title last year, seeing off Shogun and former Kenyan international Charles Cardovillis believes that they will be back on the podium this year.
"All factors considered, the Kenyan team should be able to compete for a podium place, he told the Sport Garage Show on Radio Generation.
