Police in Athi River have arrested three individuals believed to be behind a series of robberies in the region.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) identified the suspects as Kelvin Baraza Andayi, also known as Kevoo; Titus Mutuku Maingi, alias Tush; and Jack Wilshere Kimathi, known as Jack.

Their arrest followed a coordinated police operation.

The trio is suspected to have been involved in a violent robbery that occurred at Sanergy Limited Company, located in the Kinanie area of Athi River, on February 23, 2025.

During the raid on the company premises, the three suspects allegedly rounded up employees, subjected them to brutal beatings, and held them against their will.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the victims were left injured and restrained while the suspects fled with stolen items, including a fridge, a microwave, two lorry batteries, two backhoe loader batteries, and a generator.

The stolen goods were loaded into a waiting pickup truck before the gang disappeared.

Authorities noted that two other suspects managed to escape and are still being sought.

Following the incident, forensic evidence guided detectives to a rented residence in Kamulu, where the alleged mastermind, Kelvin Baraza Andayi, was apprehended.

According to a statement released by the DCI on Monday, a search of the premises uncovered a Beretta pistol, a pocket phone, several SIM cards, beige and green tactical pants, and other items believed to be linked to the crime.

Investigators say Andayi later directed them to the whereabouts of his alleged accomplices, Maingi and Kimathi.

As the suspects await arraignment, police are actively tracking down their accomplices, while the recovered items remain in custody as evidence.
