A deadly night attack at Ummu Salama Secondary School in Garissa County has left one watchman dead and another injured after unknown assailants descended on the institution late Thursday night.

Hospital sources confirmed the second guard suffered a deep cut wound to the head. He was treated, stabilized, and discharged earlier today.
"There was one deceased on arrival and another who was bleeding from the head. He has since been discharged after receiving care," said a hospital official who requested anonymity.
Security agencies have launched investigations into the incident, though the motive remains unclear.
Police believe the attackers accessed the school compound, but no arrests have been made as of Friday morning.
There has been no official comment from the school administration regarding the attack.
The incident has sparked fear among residents and raised concerns over the safety of educational institutions in the region.
Haji Abdisamad, a community elder in Waberi condemned the attack.
He called on the government to strengthen security, particularly in schools that rely on private night guards.
“We cannot allow criminals to terrorize institutions of learning. The security of our children and school staff must be guaranteed,” he said.
The deceased body has been moved to Garissa County Referral Hospital mortuary where a postmortem is expected to be conducted.
