With protests looming, he warned of political efforts to create unrest and defended the government’s commitment to development and inclusivity.

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has urged Kenyan youth to embrace dialogue and constructive engagement instead of resorting to violent protests.

Speaking during a church service at Maria Consolata Iriamurai Parish in Mbeere South and later at Mung'ethu during an interdenominational gathering, Ruku acknowledged the challenges facing young people but maintained that destruction is not a solution.

“The youth of this country are our sons and daughters. We care deeply for them, and we recognize the problems they face,” Ruku said. “But these issues can only be addressed if we come together and talk. Destroying infrastructure and property will not offer the solutions we seek.”

He assured that the government is committed to addressing youth-related concerns and said President William Ruto’s administration is working to uplift lives across all regions of the country.

Calling for national unity, Ruku encouraged Kenyans to maintain peace and cohesion regardless of political affiliation.

His remarks come just days ahead of planned nationwide protests on Wednesday, which mark the anniversary of last year’s Gen Z-led demonstrations held on June 25.

The CS also cautioned against political attempts to inflame ethnic tensions in the run-up to the protests, urging Kenyans to reject such divisive approaches.

“We have witnessed attempts to incite unrest, but we say no to violence. What we want is lasting peace, not the chaos experienced recently in Meru,” he added.

Ruku emphasized the need for unity between government and opposition in serving all Kenyans equally.

“There’s no separate Kenya for government and another for the opposition. We are one nation, and the administration under President Ruto is dedicated to uplifting all corners of the republic,” he affirmed.

He further noted that the Mbeere community, which has historically been sidelined by previous regimes, is now receiving long-overdue development attention under the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Among the highlighted initiatives are the Sh2 billion water supply project, the tarmacking of the Kiritiri-Kiambere road, and the Kamburu bulk water project—all aimed at improving water access and infrastructure in the region.
