The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has officially unveiled the timetable for the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.

According to the timetable, the exams are set to begin on October 21 and run until November 12.

KNEC says the exams will kick off with French, Sign Language, and German as the first subjects. Meanwhile, practical assessments for subjects like Home Science, Art and Design, Woodwork, and Metalwork will be conducted between October 22 and October 31.

The theory examinations are set to commence on November 3, beginning with English and Chemistry. Candidates will have a four-hour break between the two papers.

On November 4, all students will be required to sit for their Mathematics exam, which is compulsory. This will be followed by the English Literature exam later in the day. The Mathematics paper will last for two hours, while the English Literature exam will take three hours.

The following day, Wednesday, November 5, the second Chemistry paper will be administered in the morning session. In the afternoon, students will take the English Composition (essay) exam.

On Thursday, November 6, the Kiswahili (Lugha) exam is scheduled for the morning session, followed by the Kiswahili (Fasihi) exam in the afternoon.

The second week of examinations is set to begin on November 11, starting with Christian Religious Education in the morning. Later that afternoon, students will sit for Biology Paper 1.

On Thursday, November 13, the day will commence with Biology Paper 2, followed by History and Government in the afternoon. The week will wrap up with the Biology practical, where each student will have one hour and 45 minutes to complete the assigned tasks.

The Council said all first session examination papers will start at 8am, while second session examination papers will commence at 2pm.

“The time allowed for each paper is stated against the name of the paper, and no extra time will be granted. In case of any discrepancy, the time stated on the question paper should be taken as the correct one,” KNEC said.

The examination period will officially end on Friday, November 21, with the Physics Paper 3 practical as the final assessment.
