Mwangaza to exit UDA after removal from office

Immediate former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza is set to exit the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party, her husband Murega Baichu has revealed.
The revelation comes days after the High Court upheld her removal from office
Speaking on Sunday, Baichu, disclosed that the immediate former governor, who initially secured her seat as an independent candidate, had begun the process of joining UDA but ultimately opted out.
"Kawira Mwangaza had already made up her mind to become a UDA member, and I had also registered with the party. I even paid the membership fee and had signed up as a potential UDA candidate here in Meru County," Baichu said.
Baichu claims that the UDA party had been secretly working to impeach Governor Kawira Mwangaza, despite her continued support for the ruling party.
Additionally, Baichu revealed that Mwangaza plans to run for office again, this time under a newly registered party that already has a presence in more than 35 counties.
On Friday, the High Court upheld the Senate's decision to remove the embattled governor from office, following months of legal battles against the MCAs’ impeachment move.
Mwangaza faced multiple allegations, including gross misconduct, abuse of office, and violations of the Constitution.
Her successor, Isaac Mutuma, was officially sworn in on Monday morning.
