Immediate Former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza says she's been facing threats aimed at silencing her in the wake of her impeachment.

Mwangaza claims that influential figures are behind a campaign of intimidation meant to deter her from speaking out about her removal from office.

During a live Facebook session on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, she revealed that certain individuals had cautioned her against publicly addressing her impeachment.

Mwangaza alleged that there are ongoing efforts to use state agencies, including criminal investigation officers and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), to intimidate and frustrate her.

She claimed that this was a deliberate strategy designed to entangle her in legal battles, preventing her from holding authorities accountable.

"I have been warned that something is being planned against me, that DCIs will be sent after me, that the EACC and other government agencies are being mobilized to harass me and keep me preoccupied," she stated.

Despite the threats, Mwangaza remained resolute, stating that she had overcome too many struggles to be intimidated.

She emphasized that she feared no one but God and would not be silenced by those trying to instill fear in her.

"I have been in business since I was a little girl. I have done all kinds of jobs, from selling onions to working as a maid. I have faced challenges before, and the only thing I fear is God. So these threats, people saying they will come after me, do not scare me. If they want to send them, let them go ahead!" she remarked.

The former governor further revealed that her political opponents had previously sent goons to her home in an attempt to intimidate her, but she refused to be driven out of Meru.

"They already sent goons to my home, yet I never ran away. I still slept there, and I will sleep there again tonight. No one dies twice! Meru will rise again," she declared.

During her address, Mwangaza also described her successor, Governor Mutuma M’Ethingia as a puppet of political cartels.

"The same people who worked tirelessly to remove me from office are now the ones pulling the strings behind the new governor," she said.

"He’s not leading, he’s just their puppet."
