The Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award 2025 ceremony was held in Dubai on Monday, where Naomi Oyoe Ohene Oti from Ghana was announced as the winner of the esteemed award, receiving a $250,000 prize.

The 48-year-old oncology nurse was honored for her work in revolutionizing patient care, leading specialist nurse training initiatives, and advocating for equitable cancer treatment outcomes in Ghana.

Khadija Mohammed Juma works as a nurse at Tudor Sub-County Hospital in Mombasa and is the founder of RedSplash, an innovative initiative revolutionizing blood donation in Kenya.

Using a Smart Donor Search algorithm, RedSplash links donors with patients instantly, facilitating real-time connections.

Khadija has organized over 500 blood donation drives, gathering more than 25,000 units of blood and saving countless lives through her dedication.

Inspired by the tragic loss of her friend’s mother, who died because of a delayed blood transfusion, Khadija founded RedSplash—a community-driven initiative that mobilizes schools, mosques, and local groups to combat misinformation and promote voluntary blood donation.

The Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award is an annual event hosted by Aster DM Healthcare to recognize and celebrate outstanding nurses from around the world.

This award honors nurses who have made remarkable contributions to their profession, showcasing their commitment and service to humanity. The ceremony usually coincides with International Nurses Day, with winners receiving a grand prize of $250,000.
