The Deputy President took aim at the opposition, accusing them of lacking a clear vision for the country

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki on Sunday, August 3, 2025, joined congregants at AIC Kabartonjo in Baringo North for a Sunday service and thanksgiving event, as part of his weekend engagements in the region.

Kindiki was accompanied by local leaders including Baringo North MP Joseph Kipkoros Makilap, Baringo South MP Joshua Chepyegon Kandie, and County Commissioner. Also present were Tiaty’s William Kassait Kamket and veteran politician Musa Sirma.

His visit followed a community empowerment forum held in the same region on Friday, August 1, where he reaffirmed the government’s development agenda and defended ongoing grassroots initiatives.

Addressing residents during his tour, the Deputy President took aim at the opposition, accusing them of lacking a clear vision for the country. He insisted that President William Ruto remains focused on delivering his mandate and will mount a formidable re-election campaign when the time comes.

"Let it be known that the campaigns haven’t begun. President Ruto hasn’t even launched his bid but when he does, it will be a political storm they won’t see coming," Kindiki warned, echoing sentiments he had made earlier in Nakuru’s Njoro constituency.

He also hit back at critics of the government’s empowerment programs, which have recently come under scrutiny. Kindiki said the initiatives are a lifeline for disadvantaged groups, providing capital to help them grow businesses and create employment.

"We are here to uplift ordinary Kenyans. Yet some individuals in Nairobi, flush with money, want us to stop these empowerment drives. Should we really stop supporting small traders and youth groups just because the elite are uncomfortable?" he posed to the congregation.

Calling for issue-based politics ahead of the 2027 elections, the Deputy President challenged opposition leaders to offer tangible plans instead of resorting to rhetoric and incitement.

“As Kenya Kwanza, we are presenting our track record roads, housing, and job creation. Those opposing us should equally table their achievements from when they were in power and let Kenyans compare. The era of empty slogans must end,” he said.

Kindiki’s remarks are part of a broader effort by the Kenya Kwanza administration to shore up support in key regions as political temperatures begin to rise ahead of the next electoral cycle.
