National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has paid a heartfelt tribute to mothers as the world celebrates Mother's Day, describing it as a recognition of the most graceful, enduring, and divine title on Earth.

On Sunday, May 11, 2025, Wetang’ula shared his message on his official social media platforms, emphasizing that mothers are the often-overlooked architects of our futures, shaping entire generations through the kindness of their words and the strength of their resolve.

"Today, I rise not from the Speaker’s Chair but from a place of deep gratitude to honor the most graceful, enduring, and divine title on Earth — Mother. Behind every powerful nation, there is an even stronger woman, a mother who prays in silence, sacrifices in secret, and loves without conditions," Wetang’ula wrote.

"Mothers are the unsung creators of our future, molding generations through the softness of their voices and the unwavering strength of their will."

The former senator of Bungoma County took a moment to celebrate mothers, acknowledging their multifaceted roles as caregivers, educators, leaders, healers, custodians of culture, and visionaries.

He further highlighted that mothers serve as the country’s quiet prayer warriors, gracefully carrying the weight of life while guiding others with their wisdom.

“Mothers, from the halls of Parliament to rural villages, from bustling marketplaces to corporate boardrooms, exemplify unparalleled strength and compassion. They are our nation’s quiet prayer warriors, handling life’s challenges with poise and illuminating the way with their wisdom," he remarked.

"I honor each mother for the countless roles you play: nurturers, educators, leaders, healers, culture keepers, and dream-bearers. Your gentle yet powerful influence leaves an enduring impact on all."

Ford Kenya party leader, Wetang’ula, took to social media to pay tribute to mothers, urging everyone to take a moment to honor and elevate the women who nurture and shape the future, both those with us and those remembered.

He described Kenyan mothers as the living essence of the nation’s Constitution, likening them to the pulse of homes and the spirit of the country.

"Mothers teach us that real leadership starts at home, within the warmth of your care. This Mother’s Day, let us all take a moment to celebrate and uplift the mothers around us – those present, those who have passed, and those raising tomorrow’s leaders," Wetang’ula shared on X.

"To every mother in Kenya, you are the heart of our Constitution, the heartbeat of our homes, and the soul of our Republic. Happy Mother’s Day!”

This year's Mother's Day comes five months after the death of Speaker Wetang'ula's mother, Anne Nanyama, who was buried in Bungoma on January 4, 2025.
