The DCI confirmed the seizure of police uniforms and property believed to have been looted during the protests.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Nairobi-based police units have arrested multiple suspects linked to the June 25, 2025, violent unrest and recovered stolen goods, including police gear and firearms.

On Sunday, June 29, 2025, the DCI confirmed the seizure of police uniforms and property believed to have been looted during the protests.

In Mbeere South, officers arrested Francisca Mwingi and Linda Karimi at Kiritiri Police Station. Among the recovered items was a white metal-clad water tank reportedly stolen from Kiritiri Market.

Elsewhere, a targeted operation across Kikuyu and Dagoretti led to the interception of a Nissan matatu (registration KAW 702K), allegedly used to ferry protestors from Gachui-Mutuini to Dagoretti Centre. Four suspects, Sammy Ndungu Kariuki alias "Ndoji", Lawrence Kariuki Ndungu, Ali Shama Tabet alias "Alibaba", and Simon Njoroge Hiuhu were taken into custody.

DCI noted that Kariuki was captured on CCTV holding a stolen police firearm, and the group had looted merchandise from local businesses.

In Maai Mahiu, Naivasha Sub-County, another sweep resulted in the arrest of seven individuals: Raphael Njagi, Kelvin Kahuha, David Kinyanjui, Susan Njeri Karanja, Grace Mugure, Johanna Gichigo, and Joseph Nganga Njambi.

Recovered from this group were household items stolen from the Transit Hotel, including curtains, pillows, and cookware.

All twenty suspects are currently in custody and face charges ranging from theft and arson to possession of stolen government property and police gear.

DCI says investigations remain active and more arrests are expected.

The agency has called on the public to share any relevant information to aid in bringing all perpetrators to justice.

Officials emphasized the importance of following due process while continuing efforts to restore calm and accountability.
