The findings, released in a joint memorandum on Monday, come after what officials described as an “exhaustive review” of evidence gathered since Epstein’s death in 2019.

The U.S. Department of Justice and the FBI have concluded that Jeffrey Epstein was not murdered, did not engage in blackmail of influential individuals, and did not maintain a so-called “client list” tied to his sex trafficking crimes.

The findings, released in a joint memorandum on Monday, come after what officials described as an “exhaustive review” of evidence gathered since Epstein’s death in 2019.

The disgraced financier died by suicide in a New York federal jail shortly after being charged with sex trafficking offenses involving underage girls.

Despite years of speculation and numerous conspiracy theories, the memo first reported by Axios firmly rejected allegations that Epstein was murdered in custody. Investigators said security footage from the Metropolitan Correctional Center confirmed no unauthorized access to his cell during the hours leading up to his death.

"The FBI's investigation determined that Jeffrey Epstein took his own life," the memo states.

Authorities said their probe uncovered extensive digital and physical material, including a large cache of images and videos documenting abuse of underage victims. They estimated that Epstein harmed more than 1,000 individuals. However, the review reportedly found no evidence implicating third parties in criminal activity.

"There was no incriminating client list, nor credible evidence suggesting Epstein blackmailed high-profile individuals," the agencies said.

To date, Ghislaine Maxwell remains the only known associate of Epstein to face criminal charges related to his trafficking operation. Maxwell, daughter of the late British media tycoon Robert Maxwell, is serving a 20-year sentence following her 2021 conviction in New York.

Epstein’s network included several high-profile names, among them Britain’s Prince Andrew, who settled a civil lawsuit in 2022 with Virginia Giuffre. She had accused him of sexually abusing her when she was 17, allegations linked to Epstein’s trafficking ring. Giuffre died by suicide at her home in Australia this past April.

The release of the memo has not stopped political fallout. Tech billionaire Elon Musk recently accused President Donald Trump on X of being connected to the “Epstein files,” though he later deleted the post. Trump’s name did appear in a batch of unsealed court records in early 2024, but he has not been accused of any misconduct.

Despite this, a segment of Trump’s MAGA base continues to claim a widespread cover-up involving Epstein’s associates, accusing Democratic figures and Hollywood elites of complicity while excluding Trump from such claims.

Ironically, some of the more vocal proponents of these theories included former Trump appointees: FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino both of whom have promoted narratives suggesting foul play in Epstein’s death.

The Justice Department’s latest findings seek to close the door on those suspicions, emphasizing that the evidence points squarely to suicide and that no broader criminal conspiracy has been substantiated.
