FBI arrests, extradites Kenyan-based suspect in Washington State killing

The suspect was arrested in Kenya by agents from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), working in coordination with Kenyan authorities and Interpol.
A 20-year-old murder suspect has been extradited from Kenya to the United States to face charges over the fatal shooting of a woman outside a Costco store in Tukwila, Washington.
The suspect was arrested in Kenya by agents from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), working in coordination with Kenyan authorities and Interpol.
He is currently being held at King County Jail in Seattle with bail set at Sh647.5 million (USD 5 million).
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Seattle, the suspect and his alleged accomplice, also aged 20 are facing multiple charges, including murder, robbery, and attempted robbery, linked to the January 26 killing of 67-year-old Yuam Ming.
Court documents show that the two women, Ming and her sister, were loading groceries into their vehicle when the suspect allegedly attempted to steal a purse.
During the struggle, he reportedly opened fire, fatally shooting Ming.
Investigators say the suspect’s accomplice acted as the getaway driver and was driving a Porsche SUV that had been carjacked from another woman earlier that day in Seattle.
Just five days after the incident, the main suspect fled the U.S. on a flight from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
Prosecutors believe the suspect left Washington after he was identified in a social media post as a suspect in the shooting.
The case sparked a months-long international manhunt, which ended in his arrest in Kenya and subsequent extradition.
Authorities in the U.S. say the killing was premeditated and showed reckless disregard for human life.
The prosecution is relying on extensive surveillance footage, dashcam recordings from the getaway vehicle, and video captured by a police officer who was chasing the suspects at the time of the shooting.
According to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, the suspect is also facing a federal charge related to the carjacking. His next court date has not yet been scheduled.
