Police visit Juja MP Koimburi in hospital, unable to conduct interview

The officers made visits to the hospital on both Monday evening and Tuesday morning but were unable to gather the necessary information, as Koimburi’s family blocked their access.
Detectives probing allegations of abduction and torture involving Juja MP George Koimburi were denied access to see him at the hospital.
According to a report by the Star, the investigation team sought to check on his condition and question the attending medical staff but were informed they could not do so at that time.
The officers made visits to the hospital on both Monday evening and Tuesday morning but were unable to gather the necessary information, as Koimburi’s family blocked their access.
Following this, investigators returned to the location where the MP was discovered on Monday, several hours after he claimed to have been kidnapped while leaving a church event on Sunday.
Police have denied any role in the incident, suggesting the entire episode may have been fabricated or orchestrated by other parties.
Police spokesman Michael Muchiri dismissed allegations of police involvement.
He added that Koimburi is currently under investigation for a land fraud case, with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions having granted consent to prosecute.
"On Friday, May 23, despite being aware of police plans to arrest him, the MP evaded capture by fleeing on a motorcycle accompanied by his private security and switched off his mobile phone," Muchiri explained.
Police spokesperson Michael Muchiri revealed that when the MP disappeared, only his driver was found with the vehicle and was briefly detained before being released after giving a statement.
"The Hon. MP only reappeared today following the abduction claims," he said.
Muchiri added that officers from Juja had visited and documented the scene where Koimburi was allegedly found.
Meanwhile, a team from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters is analyzing an amateur video linked to the incident, along with all surrounding circumstances, to uncover the truth.
