Suspected serial killer arrested over two murders in Kiambu

The first incident took place on March 17, 2025, when Ndekei went missing after leaving for Thika town to buy clothes.
Police in Thika, Kiambu County, have arrested a man believed to be a serial killer, where he's linked to the deaths of two young women in the area.
The suspect, Samuel King'ara Kimani, is allegedly behind the violent murders of 22-year-old Rosemary Njeri Ndekei and 20-year-old Hellen Wambui Ndung'u.
The first incident took place on March 17, 2025, when Ndekei went missing after leaving for Thika town to buy clothes.
"Her sudden disappearance raised concern, prompting her boyfriend and family to report her as missing at the Thika Police Station," said the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in a statement.
Sadly, her body was discovered the following day, March 18, 2025, in a coffee plantation in Karibaribi and was later taken to General Kago Mortuary.
"An autopsy performed by a government pathologist confirmed that she died from manual strangulation and blunt force trauma to the head, indicating she was violently murdered," the DCI added.
The second incident occurred on March 31, 2025, when Ndung'u, a student at Gituamba Vocational Training College, went missing after her mother sent her to purchase food at Ngorongo Trading Centre.
"Her body was eventually found in a nearby bush, partially covered with soil. Although there were no visible injuries, neighbors identified her as the missing girl," the statement explained.
After the tragic events, detectives from the Homicide Directorate, working alongside officers in Thika, located and arrested King'ara in the Dry Area, Ngomongo, on April 14, 2025.
"Investigations uncovered a disturbing pattern: the suspect is suspected of assaulting both victims, dragging them into coffee plantations where he sexually attacked them before murdering them," the DCI revealed.
King'ara was presented in court on April 16, 2025, where detectives were granted custodial orders to continue their investigation.
