Karua, Kebaso clash over opposition group membership

Karua accused Kebaso of playing into the government’s hands by distracting from the core mission of the youth-led movement.
People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua has taken issue with Inject Party boss Morara Kebaso over his recent criticism of the opposition coalition aiming to challenge President William Ruto in the 2027 elections.
During an online exchange on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, Karua accused Kebaso of playing into the government’s hands by distracting from the core mission of the youth-led movement to oust Ruto.
She claimed his remarks were intended to undermine their momentum by shifting focus to irrelevant matters.
Morara Kebaso, the Inject Party leader, sparked controversy after he openly dismissed the opposition alliance, comprising Martha Karua, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, and ex-cabinet secretary Fred Matiang'i, accusing it of lacking direction and integrity.
In a strongly worded statement, Kebaso questioned the coalition’s legitimacy, saying, "Is this what Gen Zs sacrificed for? Is this the vision we hoped for? We’re replacing Ruto with individuals tainted by past corruption scandals—one a former tribalist deputy president, another a former CS linked to extrajudicial killings, a career minister with no meaningful impact, and a former CS implicated in a fake fertilizer scandal and a rape case. This is aimless unity, a coalition without purpose."
He urged the youth to reject what he termed a clique of self-serving elites and projects bankrolled by a man who allegedly looted Sh6 trillion.
"Young Kenyans must unite and forge a new future. I’m ready to work with honest, forward-thinking leaders—not recycled figures from a failed past," he declared.
