Nairobi County transformation plans on track- President Ruto

President Ruto reaffirmed his dedication to the Nairobi River regeneration project.
President William Ruto has unveiled a bold plan to transform Nairobi County, promising to clean and modernize the city while generating thousands of new jobs through major infrastructure developments.
During a Sunday service at Africa Inland Church (AIC) Kibera, President Ruto reaffirmed his dedication to the Nairobi River regeneration project.
He explained that the project aims not only to restore the river but also to create substantial employment opportunities, with the number of jobs projected to increase to 40,000, up from the current 22,000 provided by the Climate Works Mtaani Initiative.
The ambitious plan features the construction of a 60-kilometre sewer pipeline and the development of 50,000 affordable housing units on reclaimed land along the riverbanks.
"We will collaborate closely with the Nairobi County Government to keep the city clean and secure for both residents and visitors," President Ruto affirmed.
He also condemned illegal electricity connections, especially in informal settlements, warning that strict measures would be enforced against offenders.
Linking these unauthorized connections to the frequent slum fires, he vowed to take swift action to address the issue.
"Most fires in slum areas are caused by illegal power connections. We have addressed this issue at the highest levels and will put an end to it soon," he declared.
In defense of the Social Health Authority (SHA), President Ruto described it as a groundbreaking initiative designed to ensure healthcare access for all Kenyans, regardless of their economic background.
"Someone here in Kibera who previously couldn’t afford healthcare can now visit any government facility and receive treatment. If they can’t pay, the government will cover the costs. This was not possible before," he explained.
The President also responded to critics of his administration, urging Kenyans to ignore the naysayers and assuring them that the Kenya Kwanza manifesto will be fully delivered.
"I will lead from the front in uniting this nation. It is not only my constitutional duty but also a biblical calling," President Ruto stated.
While attending the service, he pledged to upgrade and modernize AIC Kibera and contributed funds to support the purchase of choir uniforms.
He was joined by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku, Alego Usonga MP Sam Atandi, Area MP Peter Orero, and Mathare MP Anthony Oluoch.
