Kalonzo to launch Wiper Patriotic Front Party to lead Gen z’s quest for justice

Kalonzo Musyoka, leader of the Wiper Democratic Movement, has unveiled a new political initiative called the Wiper Patriotic Front.

At a rally held on Friday, June 6, 2025, Kalonzo called on Kenyans to register as voters, emphasizing the need to boost the opposition’s chances of competing against President William Ruto in the 2027 elections.
He highlighted the crucial role of young people, commending Gen Z for their active involvement in the protests against the 2024 Finance Bill.
Kalonzo announced that June 25, 2025, will be observed as ‘Liberation Day’ to honor the Generation Z activists who lost their lives during the protests.
The former Vice President criticized the government’s questionable financial practices, alleging that President Ruto disbursed Ksh 3 million and Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki allocated KSh 2 million for women’s empowerment initiatives.
“Where is this money coming from?” Kalonzo questioned. “This is the people’s money, and it amounts to corruption behind closed doors.”
He demanded greater transparency, stressing that public funds must not be exploited for political purposes.
"Na ni pesa ya wananchi,” he emphasized "It’s the people’s money."
Kalonzo suggested that June 25 should be declared a public holiday to honor the bravery of Generation Z.
In his own words, he asked, "Wangapi wanaunga mkono kwamba ili kusherekea vijana Gen Z, tarehe ishirini na tano itakuwa public holiday?" which means,
Translation: "How many support making June 25 a public holiday to celebrate Gen Z youth?"
The Wiper Patriotic Front seeks to bring together opposition leaders and broaden Wiper’s influence beyond its traditional Ukambani stronghold. Kalonzo’s move signals a break from the troubled Azimio coalition, as he pledges to build a new alliance aimed at defeating President Ruto in the 2027 elections.
He urged Kenyans to join the movement, stating, "This is a liberation journey for Kenya, led by the fearless spirit of our youth."
